How Often to Post on LinkedIn

How often to post on LinkedIn according to LinkedIn Help and LinkedIn Business, what it says about too many posts and a four week test for your own rhythm.

How often to post on LinkedIn, the weekly figure, the limit and a four week test

LinkedIn publishes no posting count for personal profiles, which leaves how often to post on LinkedIn without an official number. What LinkedIn does publish is narrower. Its business guidance ties weekly posting by companies to a 2x lift in engagement, and LinkedIn Help warns that excessive posting can limit visibility.

Below you get both statements with their limits, then a four week method to find a rhythm from your own analytics. We read the LinkedIn sources on 29 October 2026 and tested nothing on a live account.

How Often should You Post on LinkedIn According to LinkedIn?

Four LinkedIn statements touch on frequency, and only one has a number. The table lists them with the group each one covers.

Source What it says Covers
LinkedIn Business company profile tips, undated Companies that post weekly see a 2x lift in engagement Company profiles
LinkedIn Help, updated 3 weeks before our reading LinkedIn can limit the visibility of excessive or automated posts Every member
LinkedIn Help, same article LinkedIn can cap your posts within a set period Members and company profiles
LinkedIn Marketing Academy, undated Plan, publish and engage consistently Company profiles
What LinkedIn publishes about how often to post

Two gaps run through all four rows. None gives a count for a person, and none says how many posts is too many.

What the Weekly Figure does and does Not Tell You

In LinkedIn's company profile tips, the weekly figure sits under the heading Join the conversation. The article has no date, and the text does not say what LinkedIn compared the weekly posters against.

Read it as LinkedIn pointing toward a steady weekly rhythm for companies. It does not set a target for a personal profile.

LinkedIn's Academy module points the same way without a number. It describes the goal as planning, publishing and engaging consistently to build visibility and community over time. Consistency is the instruction, and the count is left to you.

When can Posting More Hurt Reach on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn Help names two limits on volume. The first is about visibility, since posts that LinkedIn flags as excessive and inauthentic, or that come from an automation tool, can reach fewer people. The second is a cap on the number of posts a member or company profile can publish within a set period.

Help gives no number for either limit. It says the limits vary with signals like a profile's interactions, how many members block it and its verification status. Members who hit a posting limit can verify their profile or return later.

Its wording ties the visibility limit to inauthentic activity and tools, not to a post count. Our LinkedIn automation guide covers the tools side. Posting daily by hand is not banned anywhere in the Help text we read.

Does Posting More Raise Impressions?

LinkedIn does not say so. We found no LinkedIn statement that links a posting count to a number of impressions.

Our impressions guide covers a Buffer study from 28 August 2025 that compared accounts posting at different rates. It reports more impressions per post at higher frequencies. It compares accounts and cannot show that extra posts caused the gain.

How to Work Out How Often to Post on LinkedIn for Your Account

Your own analytics give the only answer with your audience in it. The method below is our view and not a LinkedIn procedure. Follow these five steps over four weeks.

  1. Open combined post analytics on desktop and note impressions and engagements for your last ten posts.
  2. In weeks 1 and 2, post at your normal rhythm and change nothing else.
  3. In weeks 3 and 4, change the count by one post a week, up or down, and keep the format and topics the same.
  4. Set the date range in combined post analytics to cover the four weeks and compare impressions and engagements per post across the two halves.
  5. Keep the count that gave steady numbers per post and that you can repeat. If the numbers per post fall as you add posts, go back.
A four week test to find your LinkedIn posting rhythm

Judge the result per post. Total impressions rise with the number of posts even when each post does worse.

Combined post analytics lets you set a date range from the past seven days up to the past 365 days and switch between impressions and engagements. Its table of recent posts shows lifetime totals that do not change with the date range. Read the trend graph for the weeks you are comparing.

Our guide on how to see your LinkedIn analytics gives the click path on desktop and mobile. LinkedIn Help says combined post analytics is rolling out gradually. If the menu is missing, your account does not have it yet.

Frequency and Timing are Separate Tests

Change one thing at a time when you test how often to post on LinkedIn. If you move both the count and the posting hour, you cannot tell which one moved the numbers.

LinkedIn's own blog, in an article dated 25 July 2024, says there is no substitute for testing your schedule, and it says timing is often less important than substance. Our timing guide covers what LinkedIn says about days and hours. Once you know your count, scheduling posts in advance helps you hold the rhythm, because the post composer has a Clock icon for a set date and time.

How Often a Company should Post on LinkedIn

For a company, how often to post on LinkedIn has one sourced answer. Weekly is the rhythm LinkedIn Business ties to a result, and it applies to company profiles only.

A company profile has its own content analytics in the admin view. Use the four week method there too and compare the same measures per post.

LinkedIn Business states no higher count. Treat weekly as a starting point for your test and not a ceiling.

What is Still Unconfirmed?

Five points stay open after reading the LinkedIn sources.

  • LinkedIn Business gives no date for the weekly statement and no comparison group for the 2x lift.
  • LinkedIn Help does not define excessive posting and gives no number for the posting limit.
  • We found no LinkedIn figure for personal profiles, and no 4+1 rule or golden hour in any LinkedIn source we read.
  • A linkedin.com result in Google is a summary built by AI from member posts. It is not LinkedIn guidance, so we did not use it.
  • We did not test the four week method on a live account.
