Social Media Twist Privacy Policy

The Social Media Twist privacy policy explains what data smtwist.com collects, why, who processes it and your rights under Indian law and the DPDP Act.

This privacy policy explains what Social Media Twist (smtwist.com) collects when you read a guide, send a pitch or email us, why we collect it and how you can ask us to delete it. We follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 of India. We keep this short because we collect very little.

Social Media Twist is operated by Namrata Arora. If anything here is unclear, email connect@smtwist.com.

This Privacy Policy in Short

Five Things to Know

  • Reading SMTwist does not need an account, a login or a cookie banner.
  • We collect your name and email only when you send them to us by email.
  • We use that information to reply to you and for nothing else.
  • Your personal data is never sold and there are no ads that track you.
  • You can ask to see or delete your data at any time.

What We Collect and Why

When You Read a Guide

The hosting provider records standard server logs. They include your IP address, browser type, the address you visited and the time. These logs keep SMTwist running and help us spot attacks. They are never used to build a profile of you. The search box on SMTwist works in your browser. Your search words are not sent to us.

When You Send a Guest Post Pitch

Pitches arrive by email. We see your name, your email address, your pitch and links to two writing samples. The details are used to read your pitch and reply. If your guide is published, your name and bio appear on SMTwist with your permission. If we add a pitch form or a newsletter later, we will update this privacy policy first.

When You Email Us

Emails sent to connect@smtwist.com are stored in our email account so we can reply and keep track of corrections. We can quote a correction in a guide without your name unless you say otherwise.

Who Processes Your Data

A small number of outside services help operate SMTwist. They handle data only for us and only for this work. Every service sees only what it needs.

Web Hosting

Serves SMTwist and keeps server logs.

Email Provider

Stores messages sent to connect@smtwist.com.

LinkedIn

Links on our author profiles take you to LinkedIn, which has its own privacy policy. There is no LinkedIn tracking on SMTwist.

Some of these services are based outside your country. They are bound by their own privacy terms and by the contracts we accept to use them.

Why We Use Your Data

You send us your details yourself, by email. We use them only to read your message and reply. If we ever need them for something else, we ask you first and tell you why. You can say no.

Cookies and Analytics

Social Media Twist does not set tracking or advertising cookies. Our hosting provider can set a technical cookie needed to serve SMTwist securely.

There is no analytics software on SMTwist right now. If a privacy friendly analytics tool is added later, this privacy policy will be updated before it goes live and will say what the tool collects.

Some guides carry links marked rel="sponsored". Clicking one takes you to another site. That site can set its own cookies. Our editorial policy explains how sponsored content is labelled.

How Long We Keep Your Data

Once the reason for holding your details ends, we delete them. We also delete them when you take back your consent.

Pitch Emails and Messages

Up to two years, so we can follow up on guides and corrections. Then we delete them.

Server Logs

Kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its own policy.

Your Rights

Under this privacy policy and Indian law you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you and why
  • correct it or complete it
  • delete it
  • stop sending you emails
  • name another person who can use these rights for you if you die or cannot act

These rights come from the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and we honour them already. Readers in the UK or the European Union have similar rights under the GDPR. Email connect@smtwist.com from the address you used with us and we act on your request within 30 days.

You can tell us to stop using your data at any time. Email connect@smtwist.com and say what to stop. Taking back consent is as easy as giving it. We then delete your data unless the law says we must keep it. What we did before you asked stays done.
