Social Media Twist Editorial Policy
How Social Media Twist tests, writes, updates and corrects its guides, how we use AI and how sponsored content is labelled.
This policy explains how every guide on Social Media Twist is researched, tested, written and kept up to date. If anything on SMTwist does not match these rules, tell us at connect@smtwist.com.
Who Writes and Edits Our Guides
The Editor
Namrata Arora is the editor of Social Media Twist. She is a social media expert with two years of hands on experience on Instagram, Facebook and other platforms. She writes most guides herself and edits every guest post before it goes live. Guest writers follow the same rules, so read the guest post guidelines before you pitch. See her author profile.
On Every Guide
The writer's name, the date it was last updated and a short author box at the end. Guest posts carry the guest writer's name and bio.
How We Test Before We Publish
Every guide carries one of two labels at the top. Tested means Namrata Arora tried the steps on a real account. Checked means we compared the steps with the platform's own help articles but have not tried them on a device yet. A checked guide says so and changes to tested once the test is done.

For a tested guide we:
- Read the official help articles and recent announcements from the platform.
- Test every step on a live account and record the phone, the operating system, the app version and the date.
- Check both iPhone and Android when we know the steps differ. If we could only test one, the guide says which.
- Take our own screenshots from our test accounts and blur any personal details.
Some features roll out slowly or only in certain countries. If we cannot test a feature ourselves, we say so near the top of the guide instead of guessing.
The Twist Box
One Result From Our Own Test
Every tested guide ends with a Twist. It holds one result from our own test that you will not find on a help article. It can be a setting that behaved differently from the official steps, a menu that moved or a number we saw after trying something. A Twist is always firsthand and signed by the person who did the test. A sponsor never writes or edits it and an AI tool never writes it.
Facts, Sources and Numbers
Linked
Statistics link to the original source, with the year the data was collected.
Official First
We prefer platform help centres, company announcements and published research.
Disagreements Shown
If two sources disagree, we say so and explain which one we trust and why.
How We Use AI
AI Helps With
- Research and reading long help articles
- First drafts and outlines
- Spotting gaps in a guide
AI Never Does
- Test a step in the app
- Write the Twist
- Make screenshots or examples
- Approve a guide for publishing
Namrata Arora checks every step in the app, rewrites the draft in plain language and approves the final text. We do not publish a guide that only an AI tool has checked.
Updates and Corrections
Apps change their menus without notice. Every guide shows the date it was last checked. We test a guide again when a platform announces a change, when a reader reports a problem or when the steps look different on our own phones. Then we update the steps and the date.
How a correction works
Spotted a mistake? Email connect@smtwist.com with the link and what you saw. We test it again, fix confirmed errors and update the date. If a correction changes the meaning of a step, we add a short note at the end of the guide saying what changed and when.
Sponsored Content and Independence
Social Media Twist is not linked to Meta, TikTok, Google, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snap or any other platform we write about. Platform names and logos belong to their owners.
Labelled
Sponsored posts carry a "Sponsored" label at the top.
Marked Links
Paid and affiliate links use rel="sponsored".
No Influence
A sponsor cannot buy a place in a guide, approve a guide or change our test results.
