LinkedIn Company Profiles, Admin Roles and Automation Rules

LinkedIn marketing for business starts with a company profile, a few admin roles and a clear view of what LinkedIn allows. This topic gathers what LinkedIn Help says on those points. No guide in this topic is published yet. Seven are planned. They cover LinkedIn marketing, B2B marketing, creating and optimizing a company profile, content strategy, using LinkedIn for business and automation. We have not managed a company profile for a client, so every fact below comes from LinkedIn Help and LinkedIn's own business site.

LinkedIn Marketing for Business: Create a Company Profile

LinkedIn Help says creating a company profile is free. LinkedIn Help names three types, namely Company, sub brand and Educational institution. You create one from a desktop or from the iOS app. The LinkedIn Help article was read on 25 October 2026.

  1. Open the menu Click the For Business icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Choose the company option Select the type that fits your organization.
  3. Add details Enter the name, the public URL and the basic company details.
  4. Confirm and create Tick the verification box and click Create.

The menu names can change, so check them on your own screen.

Who can Manage a Company Profile

LinkedIn Help lists admin roles, and every role has a different reach.

Role What LinkedIn Help says
Super admin Full control, including who else is an admin
Content admin Posts and manages content
Analyst Views analytics
Paid media roles Manage ads for the company in Campaign Manager

We list the roles by name only. Check LinkedIn Help for the full list of rights before you add someone.

Premium for Company Profiles

LinkedIn offers a paid Premium plan for companies. LinkedIn Help describes it as a subscription for company profiles with extra tools. It is separate from a personal Premium plan, which our guide on whether LinkedIn Premium is worth it covers. Our LinkedIn Premium and Multiple Accounts topic lists the plans and their prices as reported.

Posting for a Company

A company post follows its own scheduling rule. LinkedIn Help says you can schedule a company post from 1 hour to 3 months ahead. Polls, events, multiple photos, reshares, jobs and service posts are not supported in scheduling. Our Post on LinkedIn topic covers limits for both kinds of profile, and how to schedule LinkedIn posts gives the steps.

LinkedIn Automation Rules for Business

A social media management tool sounds simple, but LinkedIn limits it. LinkedIn Help says it does not permit third party software that automates activity. That means bots, plug-ins and extensions. LinkedIn can restrict or shut down an account that uses them. Check any tool against the Prohibited software article before you connect it.

LinkedIn also offers a Marketing Partner Program. LinkedIn lists partner specialties on its business site, and managing company profiles is one of them. We found no eligibility rules there, so we say nothing about who qualifies.

Ads and boosted posts need a paid media role. Our LinkedIn Ads Formats and Setup topic covers formats, objectives and budgets. LinkedIn Help also describes boosting a post as a quick way to pay for more reach on one post.

What is Still Unconfirmed

We found no LinkedIn figure for how much a company profile grows after it joins the Marketing Partner Program. We did not test the setup steps on a live account. LinkedIn Help dates change, so every article reflects the day we read it.
