Bluesky Statistics: Accounts, Users and Dates
Bluesky statistics are the counts of accounts and active users that sources report for the Bluesky app. They differ because every source counts something else. This topic puts the dated figures side by side. No guide in this topic is published yet. One is planned, and it covers Bluesky statistics. The facts below come from Wikipedia, Sprout Social and GIGAZINE. We have not tested Bluesky on a live account.
Bluesky Statistics: Registered Accounts and Active Users
Wikipedia lists registered accounts by date. Sprout Social and GIGAZINE add activity figures. Read the last column before you compare any two numbers.
| Date | Figure | What it counts |
|---|---|---|
| Feb 2024 | Over 3 million | Registered accounts at the public launch (Wikipedia) |
| 16 Sep 2024 | 10 million | Registered accounts (Wikipedia) |
| End of Jan 2025 | 30 million | Registered accounts (Wikipedia) |
| March 2025 | 2.5 million | Daily active users (Wikipedia) |
| Sep 2025 | 1.5 million | Daily active users, down 40% from March (Wikipedia) |
| Nov 2025 | 40.2 million | Registered accounts (Sprout Social) |
| 23 June 2026 | Over 45 million | Registered accounts, marked as possibly outdated (Wikipedia) |
| June 2026 | 10.4 million | Mobile monthly active users, down 27.2% on the year (GIGAZINE citing Similarweb) |

What the Bluesky Statistics Show
Signups and daily use moved in different directions. Wikipedia ties the jumps in registration to events on X, like Brazil blocking X in August 2024. It also reports that daily posters fell every month from January 2025. Sprout Social says growth slowed from a peak of 5 million new users a month to about 1.6 million a month by mid-2025.
GIGAZINE, citing Similarweb, reports a peak of about 22.1 million mobile monthly users in the fourth quarter of 2024. That figure covers the mobile app only. The article's own numbers do not fully agree, since it gives both 10.4 million and a projected 10.7 million for the same period. Treat every Bluesky figure here as an estimate with a date.
What is Still Unconfirmed
Bluesky does not publish one standard activity figure, so the numbers above vary by source. The 45 million figure is marked as possibly outdated on Wikipedia. We found no figure from Bluesky itself.
