Twitter Business Accounts, Premium Tiers and DM Limits

Twitter for business, now called X, means using X as a brand, a publisher or a creator, through a professional account, ads and optional paid verification. This topic gathers what X Help and X Business say about it. No guide in this topic is published yet. Three are planned. They cover how to use Twitter for business, a customer service story and financial services on Twitter. The facts below come from X's own material. We have not tried a business account on X ourselves.

Twitter for Business: Professional Accounts

A professional account is a free account type for businesses, creators and publishers, says X Help. Anyone who uses X for commercial purposes counts as a professional. The steps below are paraphrased from that article and were not tried on an account.

  1. Open settings Choose Switch to Professional from your profile settings or the sidebar.
  2. Tap Get Started This begins the conversion of your existing account.
  3. Choose a category Choose the one that describes your work.
  4. Choose a type Select Business or Creator.

Three requirements apply. You must not have a history of repeatedly violating the User Agreement. The profile needs an account name, a bio and a profile picture. The identity must be clear and authentic. Tools listed for professionals include Professional Home, a dashboard for tracking performance, Profile Spotlights, X Shopping and X Ads with Quick Promote.

Premium Business Tiers

Premium Business is a subscription so organizations can verify their identity. Two tiers are listed. Prices are US figures before tax and fees. X says they are subject to change.

Tier Includes US price
Full Access Affiliations and VIP support $1,000 a month
Basic Priority support and no affiliations $200 a month
Premium Business Full Access at 1,000 dollars a month and Basic at 200 dollars a month

Full Access also costs $50 a month for every extra affiliate. Both tiers need an organization account, a matching active X account, a current organization email and website domain and a complete profile.

Business Profile and Posting Tips

This advice for a new business presence comes from X Business. The article is undated and shows no results, so treat it as X's own guidance and not as proof of what works.

  • Choose a profile image that is recognizable to your brand.
  • Use the header image like a billboard for what is new or timely.
  • Use the bio to share what you do and why to follow.
  • Share your @handle on your website, cards and email signature.
  • Keep posts conversational and concise with one or two hashtags.
  • Avoid all caps copy and add a clear call to action where it fits.
  • Engage with other accounts and post regularly.

Direct Messages and Customer Feedback

A Direct Message experience described by X Business moves conversations from the public feed to private messages. It is set up in Ads Manager through cards with up to four buttons, and every button links to a welcome message. It works only with the Promoted Ads and video views objectives. X says it is currently unavailable for self serve advertisers.

A Customer Feedback prompt can appear after a Direct Message when a business requests it, per X Help. Replying is voluntary and the answer is not publicly linked to your account.

What is Still Unconfirmed

Every X source we read shows only a 2026 copyright line and no publish date. Premium Business prices can have changed since. We read no results from any Twitter for business account, so no claim is made about what grows an audience. We have not read a customer service case or a financial services guide from X, so nothing about the planned stories appears here. Check every screen in your own account before you rely on a step.
