How to Make Money on Twitter: Original Content Rewards

People make money on Twitter today by earning payouts from X, the name Twitter has used since 2023. This topic gathers what X Help says about how to make money on Twitter after its Revenue Sharing program closed. No guide in this topic is published yet. Two are planned. They cover how to get paid on X and how to make money on Twitter. The facts below come from three X Help articles. We have not applied for or earned a payout ourselves.

How to Make Money on Twitter: Programs X Lists

Three routes appear in X's material. One of them is already closed.

Program What X Help says Status
Revenue Sharing Pays creators using impressions Retired 7 Sep 2026
Original Content Rewards Pays for original content in any format Application needed
Creator Subscriptions Lets others pay for monthly content Premium plans only

All three sit behind a Premium plan. Creator Subscriptions is named in the X Premium material with no rules or prices.

Revenue Sharing Dates

It stopped taking new Revenue Sharing members on 7 August 2026, says X Help. The dates below come from its articles.

Date What happens
7 Aug 2026 No new enrollments
14 and 28 Aug Final standard payouts
7 Sep Earnings stop accruing
8 Sep Existing members can apply to the new program
About 11 Sep Final payout expected
Timeline of X Revenue Sharing closing dates from 7 August to about 11 September 2026

Access to the new program rolls out gradually. A completed ID check and a valid payout method carry over. Accounts with monetization paused for an earlier violation cannot enroll at this time.

Original Content Rewards Eligibility

Original Content Rewards pays for original content in any format, among them posts, Articles, videos and images. Every item below must be met at the time you apply, per X Help:

  • You live in a listed country. About 130 are listed, India among them.
  • You are 18 or older.
  • Your account is personal or business and in good standing. Political and government organizations are not eligible.
  • You hold an active Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business plan.
  • You have at least 500,000 Home timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days. Reply impressions do not count.
  • You have at least 500 verified followers.
  • You post original content.
Checklist of six Original Content Rewards requirements from X Help

Meeting these does not mean automatic entry. After a rejection you can send one appeal and reapply after 42 days. The retired program asked for 5 million organic impressions in 3 months. The two counts are defined differently, so we do not compare them.

How to Apply and Get Paid

The steps below are paraphrased from X Help and were not tried on an account.

  1. Open Creator Studio Choose Original Content Rewards to see your status.
  2. Check every limit The screen shows what you still need.
  3. Apply Send the short form. X reviews it and tells you the result.
  4. Add a payout method U.S. users use an X Money account. Others connect Stripe.

Payouts arrive every two weeks with a $30 minimum. Every X Money account links to one X account. Stripe users also complete identity verification. Rewards depend on qualified impressions, meaning unique impressions from Premium subscribers on the Home timeline where at least half of the post is visible. Paid, repeated and artificial impressions are excluded. No rate per impression is given.

Premium Plans and Prices

The plan you hold decides whether you can apply. These are the US prices in X's Premium material.

Plan Monthly Annual
Basic $3 $32
Premium $8 $84
Premium+ $40 $395

Prices vary by country and taxes can apply. The Premium material names Premium and Premium+ for the program. The rewards article also lists Premium Business. Neither names Basic as eligible.

Content That does Not Qualify

Original means content you made yourself that reflects your own voice or expertise. These do not count, per X Help:

  • Copied content
  • Minimally changed content, like a new word, a filter, a speed change or a text overlay
  • Aggregated content that compiles other people's work without new framing
  • Reposts from another platform by someone other than the creator

A post with a helpful Community Note is ineligible. So are disinformation and content that is only about monetization. Bots and repeated requests for likes, replies, follows or reposts break the rules too. Since 3 March 2026 an AI generated video of an armed conflict posted without an AI disclosure brings a 90-day suspension. A repeat brings a permanent one.

What is Still Unconfirmed

No source gives a payout rate or says what a typical creator earns. We read no independent test of the program. We have not applied, so we cannot say how long a review takes. The country list in the rewards article is longer than the one in the retired program's article. We did not check whether your region is open at this moment. Check Creator Studio in your own account before you rely on any figure here.
